General terms and conditions for publication

General terms and conditions for publication apply in particular to job advertisements and, when applicable, to internship and thesis offers.

  • Aarresaari.net is meant for job advertisements that are suitable for university students or job-seekers with university qualifications. The job offered must support the studies of students or require academic studies/academic qualifications.
  • Recruitment ads from temporary work agencies and recruitment service companies should include the name of the client/commissioning company and itemised information about the work tasks offered. Some universities will not publish anonymous advertisements.
  • Universities wish that all internships are paid. Universities have the right to refrain from publishing an employer´s internship advertisement in which the payment falls below the minimum wage level or if there are no possibilities to apply for a internship subsidy.
  • We will not publish advertisements related to network marketing.
  • Based on their own publication terms and conditions and at their discretion, universities have the right not to publish an advertisement sent by an employer or remove a published advertisement.
  • The advertisements will be transferred to universities immediately. The aim is to publish the advertisements for the students of the universities within three (3) working days.
  • Aarresaari network and universities belonging to it will not assume responsibility for the content of the advertisements.
  • If there is an error in the advertisement you have already submitted or wish to edit it, you may do so by following the link you received by e-mail. The link is valid for three months after the final application date.

Description of data security and database

Personal and employer data contained by Aarresaari.net database are processed confidentially. More information is available in Aarresaari.net's Description of data security and database.

How to draw up an ad

Did you get many applications, but not the kind you were hoping for? Or did you get too few applications? Was your advertisement not accepted? Following the instructions below you can improve the attention value of your ad with the right target group. Sections marked with * concern internship ads.

General instructions

  • The advertisement will be automatically removed from the system after the final application date.
  • The advertisement must be in plain text format (hyperlinks work); unfortunately attachments or pictures may not be included in the advertisements. You may upload the logo of your organisation or a picture related to the ad in the place provided.
  • Do not copy text directly from a word processing program or a PDF document; the system will not correct hyphenation, incorrect row divisions, etc. or other errors generated by the copying.
  • Fields indicated with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  • You may choose one or more universities as the target for the advertisement. Always select at least one university.
  • The system offers you an opportunity to edit the ad. The link needed for editing will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address provided by the advertiser. The link is valid for three (3) months after the final application date. The password required for editing will be created by the advertisers themselves. It is recommended that the password is written down, since the system will not send a notification about it to the advertiser. It is also possible to reset the password using the edit link in case it has been forgotten.
  • Through the editing link you can also follow in which universities your advertisement has been published and how many times it has been viewed. You can also copy and edit your old advert and send it as a new one.
  • Should you encounter technical problems, we ask you to kindly contact info(a)aarresaari.net.

Advertisement fields

Below are detailed instructions for filling in all the fields in the advertisement form. We will update the instructions based on the feedback and additional questions. You can leave feedback at info@aarresaari.net.

Heading

A short heading, preferably, for example, the title of the position – however, if the title is 'trainee', etc. it is good to clarify it with, for example, the field of the duties, "Trainee (communications)" or the location of the work "Controller (Vaasa)". The heading will be displayed for the students in the browse view listing open positions.
No name of the employer.
Do not use CAPITAL letters.

Description
Description of the responsibilities and required competence. The actual text of the advertisement. Write a description of the open position and its character.
Itemise the knowledge, skills and competence required for the position.
If you are offering a final thesis opportunity, you may describe the theme of the subject matter offered as well as wishes related to the competence of the student.
The advertisement must not include illegal conditions.
The more detailed the description of the work duties and terms of employment, the better the chance you have of the right kinds of applicants applying for the position.

Time and duration
Include your wish about the start date of the job or the start and end dates of fixed-term jobs.

Form of employment
Select the appropriate alternative for the nature of the work. Students can search for advertisements based on your selection.
In the case of final thesis offers, you may choose "other", if final thesis cooperation is other than an employment relationship.

Salary
You may indicate the salary to be paid or, for example, the salary system or collective agreement according to which the salary will be paid.

Additional information on the salary or other recompense
Job placement form field: Write here additional information related to the trainee's salary or other funding.
The advertisement must include the level of pay for the job placement (there is no need to publish the exact amount in euros). We do not publish advertisements for unpaid job placement opportunities for students.

Job location
The default "Open/Other" for all ads.
Select the approximate location of the job. You may provide more detailed location information in the description field and the employer's address field.

Publishing date
The date when the universities will publish or relay the job offer to the students.
This can be set for a future date but not a past date.

Application deadline
The date when the advertisement is removed from the universities' job exchange.
This application period may be four (4) months on job ads and (6) months on internship offers at maximum.
If you select "Open", the system will set the date to thirty (30) days from the date when the advertisement was submitted. This is a particularly good choice when the position is filled as soon as a suitable candidate has been found.
Advertisements can be edited by the employer for three (3) months after the final application date. Editing takes place through an ad-specific edit link.

Additional information on the open position
In the additional information field, you can provide more information about the employer or instructions for applying.
Please provide links to, for example, recruitment pages in the website address field to ensure that they work.

Language skills requirements
You can choose the option "Finnish or Swedish language skills are not required for this position" if you can consider also applicants not having skills in Finnish or Swedish. Students can search offers by this selection.

More detailed information about the universities and the disciplines taught at them is available at the bottom of this page as well as the universities' own websites (see "Contact Information").

Choose field(s) of study

You must select at least one field or "Not education-specific".

The name will be at the disposal of the universities' administrators for further inquiries.

FAQ

How long should the application period be?

Sometimes a couple of days is enough in rapid recruitment needs; most of the time it is not. The most typical period for job ads is from two weeks to two months. In job placement and final thesis recruitment the application periods are longer. The maximum length for the application period set by our system is four months on job ads and six months on internship offers. If needed, you can resubmit the advertisement or continue the application period through the ad-specific edit link and password.

It is in the best interests of both the employer and the students that open advertisements are active. A very long application period raises questions among students.

I do not know university structures and/or the fields studied there, how do I focus my advertisement correctly?

Information about the fields of education offered by various universities is available in the chart at the bottom of the page Universities' own websites have a great deal of useful additional information about the subjects studied at the universities. The addresses are given in the Contacts section of this website. Korkeakouluosaajat.fi is also a useful website when looking for information about fields of education and universities.

Why do you not accept anonymous ads?

We wish to ensure that the students receive sufficient information during the application situation.

Do you accept ads from temporary work agencies or recruitment companies?

Yes, we do. Temporary work advertisements must clearly indicate that they are for temporary work and give the name of the commissioning company.

I did not receive an e-mail acknowledgment after sending the ad, how can I ensure that the ad has been received?

If the system displayed the text "THANK YOU, YOUR ADVERTISEMENT HAS BEEN SAVED!" on the website after you sent the advertisement, it has been saved in the system and relayed to the university of your choice. If you wish, you can contact the universities you selected by e-mail or phone. See Contact Information.

If the e-mail does not arrive, it is likely that the e-mail format or address was incorrect.

How can I edit or remove an ad if I have not received an e-mail with the edit link?

If you do not receive the acknowledgement message sent by the system with the edit/delete link, you may ask the universities to which you sent the advertisement to remove the advertisement. Removal messages should be sent to the units by e-mail. See Contact Information.
